One of the big changes to the LMM was the addition of a diesel particulate filter, or DPF system. Alongside the DPF is regeneration cycles that occur to clean the particulate filter and system. Follow the instructions provided with the cleaning solution and the machine. Typically, the cleaning solution is sprayed into the filter under high pressure, which helps to dislodge and remove built-up soot and ash. 6 you need heat to clean these dpfs. I tried soaking in solvent, oven cleaners, pressure washing, etc..waste of time. the absolute best cleaning is to do an operator commanded regen, followed by a 30 minute drive using an water/methional injection system. To clean them we send them out to be cut and baked. Apply the Cleaner: Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines to apply the cleaner to the DPF. This might involve spraying the cleaner into the DPF or adding it to the fuel tank. Ensure accurate measurements as per the instructions. Start the Engine: With the cleaner applied, start the engine and let it idle for the prescribed duration. But DPFs also have a differential pressure sensor. There’s a sensor on the way in and a sensor on the way out, and it measures the pressure drop across the DPF. As that pressure drop increases, the car knows the filter is getting more and more blocked - because more pressure difference equals more particle load and resistance to flow.
