I may add that from Como State Railways station (Como San Giovanni) you should take a bus or a taxi to get quickly to the boat pier. You may even decide to go to Como by train, take a boat to the middle of the lake (up to Bellagio for example) then cross the lake and return by bus from Menaggio (or vice versa).
