There are three components to the engine aftertreatment system: the diesel particulate filter (DPF), the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), and the selective catalytic reduction (SCR). The DPF has been the main focus of attention when problems come up, but itβs just as important to look at the DOC and SCR to make sure everything in the system

You can sell it as scrap, unroadworthy and not fit for purpose. 100% correct. On 11/1/2017 at 3:53 PM, Mojo121 said: I thought the DPF check is a visual thing - many are just gutted.
According to state and federal law, driving a deleted truck is illegal. If the EPA police find you with a deleted truck, you will be charged a fine. As a consumer, you may be fined a minimum of $2500 and a maximum of $7500 for driving a deleted truck publicly. For companies, the fine can be a maximum of $14 million depending on the level of
All the insides of the DPF have been removed so now the dpf area is clear of anything. This is a real mindfield for me I have contacted advanced tuning today so waiting for a call regarding software uodate, there view is all of the contents have to be removed and the rest is done by the software. Will keep you posted.
I'm quite certain it would fail if the dpf is removed. It's only a visual test though. You can get your existing dpf gutted (cut open, insides removed and welded back up). Chances are you'd most probably pass the mot this way. You'd also need a remap, a good tuner can remap without hardly any smoke present.
The DOC also protects the DPF. Hydrocarbon liquids or vapor can interfere with the DPFβs ability to trap and remove particulate matter, so manufacturers route the exhaust through the DOC first
Here's a shot of the parts that came off the car. You can see the DPF filter, EGR filter, and primary and secondary cat with exhaust flapper. Behind that you can see the passenger side drive axle. The DPF unit alone is a lot heavier than it looks. I'd estimate it to weigh at least 45, maybe 50 pounds.
